Route 15: From Alpedrete to Los Molinos along shepherds' paths

Discover idyllic landscapes and cattle farms on a route that offers spectacular views and authentic contact with nature.

The route starts in Alpedrete, on the Camino de los Barrizales, which leaves the M-619 road from Alpedrete in the direction of Guadarrama. This route runs along a cattle track for the most part and crosses livestock farms of great beauty while allowing us to see part of the peaks of the Sierra de Guadarrama. During the first part of the route we will cross a housing estate of chalets that will quickly give way to estates populated with holm oaks and bordered with stone walls. We will continue along the dirt track, a more than obvious path, and when we reach a crossroads we will continue straight on (the one on the right will take us to Collado Mediano). Our path will take us to a wider dirt track that we take to the left, which runs along the stone wall of a farm. Continue along this track, ignoring the track to the left, which has a sign indicating "Megacampo" and "Centro Canino". On both sides of the track we have beautiful cattle farms which in spring look spectacular with their green grass and the multicoloured flowers that sow them. At the next fork we take the path to the left, which runs through ash trees. We will soon pass a Canadian crossing (a fence in the ground to prevent the passage of livestock) and we will reach the M-623 road that links Collado Mediano with Guadarrama, which we will have to cross with great caution to continue on our way. Following our path straight on, we cross the Arroyo de Las Pozas stream and when we reach a building we take the path on the right that immediately runs parallel to the road. We will ascend slightly among lavender, rockroses and junipers and we will be able to enjoy some truly beautiful views. Soon houses begin to appear on our left, belonging to the Urbanización La Serranilla, and we will walk parallel to the road to enter Los Molinos. Continuing straight on, we will eventually reach the Parque del Doctor Rodríguez Padilla where the Ermita de San José is located, the end of our route.
