Museo Cantero: the language of stones

Alpedrete, a village of stonemasons, displays its art in the Stonemason Museum and its granite quarries, a historical legacy in the Biosphere Reserve.

The Sierra de Guadarrama, just 45 minutes from Madrid, is a region of great natural, cultural and scenic value with a great biodiversity and ecological richness, an incomparable setting for enjoying nature through sports, observation or simply relaxing.

For those who have visited it, the sierra hides the most beautiful villages in the mountains of Madrid. You can enjoy, among many other routes, "Los 14 Imprescindibles de la Sierra de Guadarrama", awarded as the Best Route of 2018 in the contest organised by Turinea, the largest thematic routes portal in Spain. Route, through which an essential, different and special tourist resource of each of the 13 municipalities that make up the destination (museums, archaeological sites, routes in the natural environment, civil and religious architecture with references to intangible cultural heritage...) is made known.

The territory is protected in various ways to guarantee the conservation of its natural values. A large part of its territory is included in the Sierra de Guadarrama National Park and the Biosphere Reserve of the Cuenca Alta del Río Manzanares, and is home to species such as the black vulture, the mountain goat, the Iberian imperial eagle and the Elizabethan butterfly, among others.
