Paquito Fernández Ochoa Ski Museum
A rendezvous with alpine sport
The first skiers reached the slopes of the Navacerrada pass in 1915, a year after the first vehicles with internal combustion engines took to it.
It is no coincidence, then, that in the foothills of the Guadarrama, in the heart of the town of Cercedilla, we find the "Paquito Fernández Ochoa" Ski Museum. More than a museum, it is a home for the dissemination of skiing and alpine sports, framed in the nature full of feats of the Sierra de Guadarrama.
This Ski Museum is a space for all audiences to interact with historical and contemporary objects, photographs, works of art, interactive resources that transmit the birth and evolution of skiing, alpine sports and the encounter with the nature of the Sierra for all citizens.
This museum would not be understood without the trophies and other pieces of the personal and sporting history of Paquito Fernández Ochoa, the only Spaniard to have won a gold medal at a Winter Olympics (Sapporo, 1972). A living place for the memory of all ski fans and lovers, personified in Paquito, so closely linked throughout his life to the Sierra de Guadarrama and the town of Cercedilla.
