Majalespino Reservoir, the secret of Becerril de la Sierra
The Majalespino reservoir, also known as the Maliciosa reservoir, is a must on the traditional route of mountaineers to this mythical elevation of the Sierra de Guadarrama, reproduced ad infinitum as one of the most significant icons of the mountain landscape of the peaks.
The reservoir originates from the damming of water from the Peña Jardera stream, and provides drinking water to the municipality of Becerril de la Sierra, and the beauty of its surroundings makes it an essential place to visit when reading the landscape of the sierra.
From this reservoir it is possible to appreciate with clarity and amplitude the diverse landscapes and ecosystems that make up the Sierra de Guadarrama, in the transition from the high mountains to the plains and pastures for livestock; passing through areas of spectacular rocky crags, made of a high quality granite that has made the quarries in the surrounding areas famous.
The berrocales are full of winding and winding paths, which were once travelled by many shepherds and more than one bandit, when travelling through these sierras on horses and stagecoaches was true adventure tourism.
